  1. New Bern was the first state capitol in the United States
  2. Pepsi-Cola was first created in New Bern
  3. The first printing press in North Carolina was built in New Bern
  4. The first movie theatre was built in New Bern
  5. New Bern is NC's second-oldest town, being incorporated in 1710.
